Texas schools
Texas has over 5 million students attending over nine thousand public schools. In order to manage these schools, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) divides the state into 20 Regions. Each region has an Educational Service Center to support the school districts in the region.
In all, these 20 regions support 1,246 school districts. However, each of these regions varies greatly by size. The largest, Region 4 in Houston, serves over 1.1 million students in 103 different school districts. While the smallest, Region 9 in Wichita Falls only serves a little over 38 thousand students in 39 school districts.
